Newly launched products are always criticized rather than praised, and the same goes for air source heat pumps. It is not uncommon to hear skepticism about air source heat pumps in our lives, such as, "Air source heat pumps also use electricity, so why not use much less expensive electric heaters?" , "Ultra-low temperature heat pump heating is a commercial and sales gimmick, in fact, can not be used in the northern region of the winter?"
Even though air-source heat pumps have been installed and used in hundreds of thousands of units in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Hebei and other provinces and cities, and have been tested in several cold winters, it will still be questioned by some people.
Question 1: air-source heat pumps have been working with electricity, since electricity, direct heating is not better? Why spend so much money?
A: You can use electric heating directly, but electric heating uses electricity directly and is very inefficient. The efficiency of electric heat conversion is less than 40%, which means that about 60% of the power is wasted in electric heat conversion. Air source heat pumps use electrical energy to transmit heat received from the atmosphere, its efficiency is much higher, large heating energy efficiency can reach 4.0, and air source heat pumps zero emissions, no pollution.
Question 2: Air source heat pumps use electricity to develop, power plants are burning coal to generate electricity, why not use coal-fired boilers?
A: At this stage, China still has 70% of the electricity is generated by coal, so it is correct to say that the power plant burns coal to generate electricity. However, there is a big difference between the coal burned in the power plant and the bulk coal supplied by the customer for heating, i.e. the utilization rate is different. The utilization rate of dealer-supplied bulk coal for heating and delivering heat may be less than 10 percent, but power plant boilers typically generate electricity at a rate of 50 percent or more. In addition, as far as transportation costs are concerned, coal is transported from the mine to the power plant, so the cost of transporting it to thousands of homes varies. Moreover, coal from power plants is cleaned and treated, which is cleaner and more environmentally friendly than bulk coal.
Question 3: When the temperature reaches below 0°C, air source heat pumps have poor heating capacity and consume a lot of electricity, so it's better to use electricity for heating?
A: The working efficiency of air source heat pump is closely related to the site temperature, which depends on the working principle of air source heat pump. However, when the outdoor temperature is low to a certain value, the heating effect of the air source heat pump starts to decrease significantly, and this value is different from other products. When the temperature of an air source heat pump heating unit falls below 0°C, the heating capacity diminishes and the temperature is so low that it does not produce heat. But newer ultra-low temperature air source heat pump products have solved this problem, working at both high and low temperatures with higher energy efficiency values.
Although air source heat pumps have not been in the public eye for a long time, they have actually been around for many years and they have stood the test of time as an excellent energy efficient device.
